"Dice Undisputed" Premieres March 4th On VH1
Andrew Dice Clay the controversial comedian who at one time was banned from MTV for life, is now back from retirement with a new show on VH1. The show is a reality show that documents his struggle to get back to the top and is called "Dice Undisputed." It shows things such as his struggle taking care of two teenage sons while dealing with a broken marriage. You will also get to see his entourage of a rag tag group of middle aged buddies and road crew. The show idea sounds interesting and with Dice there should be some light hearted moments with the drama so it may be worth checking it out. So far VH1 has picked up 7 episodes of "Dice Undisputed" to be shown on Sunday nights.

"Joan And Melissa Live At The Academy Awards"
For many years Joan and Melissa Rivers hosted a pre show on the E channel for the Academy Awards that was very successful. A few years ago they moved the show to the TV Guide channel and this year they are back again. The two of them stand on the red carpet as the Oscar attendees arrive and ask them questions like which designer they are wearing and other hard hitting questions. After everyone has entered the Kodak Theater they discuss what everyone was wearing and make fun of what some of the people where wearing. This show is tacky and superficial but at the same time you end up watching it. Other channels will do this same type of show but this one is the best of this genre and worth watching if you watch one.

REVIEW: "Beach Patrol" On Court TV
"Beach Patrol" is a reality series thats very similar to the long running "Cops" on FOX. Instead of showing police work in this case they show lifeguards from various different departments across America as they do their job. From rescuing people, drinking and drugs, fights, and people just causing trouble. Because it happens at the beach the view is better and, because unlike "Cops" they are not always arresting people the show is more upbeat. Its an interesting show to watch and its amazing how much police type work the lifeguards do even though they are unarmed. If you are in to the reality shows in the vain of "Cops" you will enjoy this show. "Beach Patrol" is shown on "Court TV" and is shown many times through the week and on the weekends it is often shown all day.

"The Frank Show" Picked Up By TBS
TBS has announced that they have picked up "The Frank Show" starring comedian Frank Caliendo for eight episodes. The show is a late night comedy sketch show that is shot in front of a studio audience with pretaped segments. Frank Caliendo is known for his impersonation skills on FOX's "NFL Pregame Show" and this show will play to his strengths. This show will be shown after 11pm and this is the second original late night program for TBS. The first one "10 Items or Less" recently aired but its future hasn't been announced yet. This recent move by TBS for original programming is a departure from a channel that was for many years known for reruns, movies and sports.

Keith Olbermann Adds Four More Years
Keith Olbermann who is host of MSNBC's prime time show "Countdown" has signed a new contract for four more years as host. Keith's contract was set to expire this March for a show he has hosted since 2003. "Countdown's" ratings are solid with ratings last month up 85 percent over January 2006. The show over time has become more political with Keith Olbermann criticizing President Bush often in well written commentaries and also attacking Bill O' Reilly his competition on FOX News. Keith Olbermann has become a liberal hero and he needles Bill O' Reilly although O' Reilly's show still has much higher ratings. I enjoy watching Keith Olbermann and "Countdown" its always entertaining although I'm sure some people may be put off by his sarcasm.

The SoapNet cable channel had a huge ratings jump for its prime time shows in January. The channel saw a 48 percent jump in viewer ship year over year for its prime time same day reruns of ABC soaps as well as some others and some original programming. Over the last few years the viewer ship of all the daytime soap operas has been declining so this channel has been a bright spot.

"Black Donnellys" To Premiere March 5th
NBC has announced that its mid season replacement drama "The Black Donnelly's" will debut on March 5th. The show concerns four young working-class Irish American brothers living in New York. The four brothers are involved in organized crime in this gritty drama. The show will air at 10pm after the popular NBC "Heroes." The show in that time slot now is the struggling "Studio 60" which will return later in the season. The concept for this show sounds interesting but i wonder if this may have worked better on basic cable. Either way I applaud NBC for the risk taking in shows that it has shown this season.
