The latest installment of MTV's "Real World" the 18th installment this time set in Denver debuted to lower ratings. The show debuted with 1.56 million viewers in its new Wednesday night slot compared with 3.33 million viewers of the last edition which was set in Key West, Florida. The last edition was on Tuesday nights so maybe some of the audience missed the debut although MTV did do heavy promotion of the new time. The next few weeks will be interesting because MTV repeats the show often so we will see if other viewers get hooked or if this long time hit show is drawing to an end. This show was reality tv before that term even existed and I hope the show survives.

Outside the United States things have been going better for the fledgling network and it will be available in 80 million homes. Im sure over time they will work out deals in the US but im sure no major company wants to be the first to announce carriage of the network because of the anti American tone on the original Arab service.

The audience it does get is said to include a large percentage that make over $75,000 per year which is attractive to advertisers so maybe that is a reason that NBC is standing behind the show for now and giving it every chance.

Sci Fi Channel Home For Wrestling?

The Sci Fi Channel has added a new live ECW wresting show every Tuesday night at 10pm. I guess they are trying to tap in to the young male audience that watches the Sci Fi Channel.

NBC Moves NFL Game To Night Again

When NBC got its NFL contract for NFL football on Sunday nights it negotiated in a clause where it can switch games from Sunday afternoon to Sunday night. The first game to be switched is this weekends Chicago Bears at New York Giants. Now NBC has used that clause again and will switch the November 19th game of the San Diego Chargers at the Denver Broncos from an afternoon game to a 8:15pm EST start. This flexible schedule in the NBC contract is a big plus for them and it means they can switch games with the best match ups to its broadcast.

Coal Miner Couple Gone From Amazing Race

On last nights Amazing Race on CBS the coal mining couple from Kentucky's luck finally ran out. David and his wife Mary were marked for elimination for a second time which meant they either had to finish first or they would have a 30 minute penalty during which time the other teams could past them. They finished next to last and had to wait during which the team behind them finished causing them to be eliminated. The beauty queens our my favorites and last night they came in first and look tough to beat although things can change often in this show.

"The OC" Struggles In Its Premiere

Thursday nights premiere of "The OC" struggled in the ratings with only 3.4 million viewers. Worse in some ways that the low rating was the 3% share in the critical 18-49 age group which is not good for a show that used to dominate the teen market. Last season which was down from its highs the show was still getting 6 million viewers on average and a 7% share in the critical 18-49 age group. FOX had put the premiere episode on My Space before the premiere to boast the show but it doesn't look like it worked. The end of "The OC" may be close which is a shame because I enjoy the show, but last season the show got so unbelievable it made it hard to watch.

A member of the town returns to "Jericho" with news from outside of the town. Gary Anderson shares all the horrible things he has seen in his travels. Fixing "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip"

Recently rumors have swirled on the internet that NBC plans to cancel "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip." If this is not true I think NBC needs to do somethings to improve the show and make it more interesting. First of all the acting on this show is very good and the drama on the show is well written thats not where the problem lies on this show; The show is set around a the production of a television show and that is where the problem lies. The "fake show" is not funny which means the whole show is dragged down. So either you need to bring in comedy writers to improve that part or find some other way to change it. The show within a show has been done so well in the past by shows like "The Gary Shandling Show" or "Larry Sanders Show" or even in "Murphy Brown" so it can be done and done well. Unless they can make the "fake show" funny or at least interesting this show could be in trouble.

Al Jazeera English Channel To Launch Nov 15th

"Studio 60" To Be Cancelled Rumors

There are rumors that NBC's high pushed show "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" is to be canceled. The critics have not been kind to the show and the ratings haven't been that stellar so anything is possible. The show is expensive to produce with a large cast and NBC has recently announced that it is cutting costs by putting game shows and less expensive programming such as reality shows in the 8pm hour. After pushing the show so heavily with things such as having the show available on Netflix before its premiere for example it would be a surprise if NBC gave up so easily. Recently NBC has shown repeats of "Friday Night Lights" its other struggling drama on many nights in order to help the show gain viewers. NBC recently ordered three more scripts for "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" and I hope give the show another time slot or at least finish the season before making a decision on the shows fate although in the current market the show could be yanked tomorrow.

Coal Miner & Wife Survive On Amazing Race 10

David the coal miner from Kentucky and his wife Mary last night avoided elimination for the second time on last nights Amazing Race on CBS. On last nights show the couple from Kentucky came in last again but as was the last time this happened this leg was a non elimination leg. On next weeks episode they must come in first or be subject to a thirty minute penalty which could put them out of the race. Last time they were helped by the brothers Erwin and Godwin to survive who is part of a six way alliance called "The Six Pack" but that alliance seems weak. The question concerning the brothers are they helping the others because they don't really care about winning or are they keeping slowing competitors in the race so they will be easier to beat in the end. This show is always interesting and actioned packed and im looking forward to next weeks episode.

The popular host died last month off the coast of Queensland when a stingray barb went through his chest. The episode will have Steve Irwin at a celebrity party hosted by Satan and he will be shown with the barb through his chest. This episode is in poor taste but South Park is known for doing things like this so its not really that big of a surprise, although im sure many people may be offended.

On "Jericho" Tonight An Unwelcome Visitor

"Jericho" Message From Homeland Security

The people of "Jericho"receive a message from the outside world its a prerecorded message from Homeland Security telling them to stay put because help is on the way. The power returns to the town and people start to hope that things are becoming more normal. This is short lived as power surges and power lines which go down cause fires to break out all over town. The show airs tonight at 8pm on CBS. Im one of the millions of people that enjoy this new show which is like "Lost" but in a present day town in the Midwest with all the worries of nuclear war and terrorism that are in the news right now. When I first watched the commercials for this show I thought it might be depressing but its not and shows how normal people overcome in extreme circumstances.

The show was 67th in last weeks ratings with 6.3 miilion viewers which was down from 7.6 million from its premiere. The original order was for 13 episodes this year, but the new order brings that total up to 22 episodes. The show got a 13.2 million viewers in its latest outing and averaged 15 million last year. This wasn't a show I watched last year but have seen it this year and must say its a very good show. It shows the lives of wives and family at a military base as well as the members of "The Unit" a top secret military group as they do there missions around the world. So the show is a mixture of drama with some intense action scenes and some very good acting, definetly worth a look.

Amazing Race Picked Up For 11th Season

The four time Emmy winning "Amazing Race" on CBS was just renewed by them for another season, which will be the shows 11th edition. The show where 12 teams of 2 follow clues around the world has been getting strong ratings on its new Sunday night slot. The 10th edition of the show has been averaging over 10 million viewers per episode. Every week the last team to arrive at a set pit stop could be eliminated. Over the weeks the number of teams gets less and then at the end the last few teams rush to get to the finish line and win the prize which is 1 million dollars. The show does a good job of putting together the teams of 2 of which both members have some kind of relationship with each other. The relationship could be brother/sister, friends, dating, married or whatever. The key in this race apart from being quick and smart is also being able to work together under pressure. This last thing is usually the downfall of lots of the teams because if you are fighting its going to distract from the goal. I enjoy this show and never miss it and is not just because one team this time is a Miss New York and a Miss California although being a guy that is a plus. The reason I watch it is you get to see all parts of the world and also see all the crazy things the teams have to do and watch as some times overcome as some teams fail. Its a show where you can pull for you favorites and at the same time hope that others fail. The Amazing Race is at 8pm on Sundays, check local listings.
