CSI Miami Hits Its Stride

The original CSI is one of my favorite shows and has been from the start, the writing and acting are some of the best on television. When they expanded from the original CSI in Las Vegas to new shows in Miami and New York I was a little nervous that they would damage the original show or make weaker copies of it. I watched CSI Miami from the start and it wasn't a show I always watched, it was okay but wasn't as good as the original. Over time the show has gotten better and David Caruso now seems more relaxed in the role and puts in strong performances. The supporting cast also has gotten better and if you are a fan of the original CSI then this show is worth a look.

CBS Cancels "Armed & Famous"

CBS has announced that they have canceled their police and celebrity reality show "Armed & Famous" after three episodes. The show which featured lesser known celebrities such as Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson and Jack Osbourne as reserve police officers has had falling ratings. The show went up against FOX's top rated American Idol on Wednesdays nights and was 44th in its first week when two episodes were shown but fell to 70th for its January 17th episode. This weekend VH1 will show the one episode not already shown plus the four already broadcast. Originally there was a planned seven episodes and i'm sure VH1 will show the remaining two episodes if the producers decide to finish them.

TMZ.Com Coming To FOX Stations In Fall

A new entertainment show based on the celebrity gossip website TMZ.Com is coming to Fox owned television stations this fall. The show which is titled TMZ will be shown nightly in a half hour format with an hour version on the weekends. The website has been amazingly popular since its December 2005 launch and has attracted millions of hits. The site has been famous for being the first to report thinks such as Mel Gibsons arrest as well as scopes on Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan. I'm sure the show will be similar to Entertainment Tonight and Extra but have more celebrity gossip, it will be interesting to see how it does this fall.

Bravo's "Top Chef" Has Highest Ratings Ever

Bravo's reality chef show called "Top Chef" had its highest ratings ever this past Wednesday night. The show which featured a super size episode drew 2.2 million viewers including myself. The second season now running on Bravo has been averaging 1.7 million viewers which is up 54 percent over ratings for season one at this point. The show has already been renewed for a third season. The show is about a group of wannabe chefs who are competing for a $100,000 prize as well as other prizes and the title "Top Chef." Its your standard reality fair where each week the contestants compete against each other in competitions and then a group of judges decide which one goes home until the last one standing is the winner. I enjoy the show and its worth watching if you enjoy reality competition shows its kind of like "Hell's Kitchen" but without Gordon Ramsey.
